I can’t tell you how many questions I get about Instagram stories.
I also can’t tell you how much stories are effecting the Instagram algorithm these days which makes them an important thing to think about. (One reason, if you’re in my WHAT THE HECK TO POST subscription, you got a lot of content this month designed to cross over between your feed and your story! 😉)
If you’ve noticed a significant drop in your growth in engagement — first of all, join the club! — second of all, it’s because people are absorbing content differently AND because algorithms are favoring content differently based on their numbers.
The average person used to stay on Instagram 15 – 20 minutes a day, and now spends an average of 25 – 32 minutes. According to Instagram’s analytics, it’s a result of stories having people’s attention.
This gives you and me — the business owners — a hint: Stories cannot be this random thing that we sometimes use. It’s got to be part of our regular content.
So here’s what I want to help you with today: There are some SUPER EASY things you can do with stories to make them stand out a little more in a fun and creative way that I see almost no one doing.
